Career By Design

I was talking with some colleagues recently, and remarked that one of them does such a good job of remembering names and features of people they meet. 

I have also heard before that there is an average of 150 names and faces a person can recall without additional prompting. (referenced near the bottom of this link How Many People Can You Remember?)

I was wondering if anyone wanted to share tips that work for them when it comes to remembering the names of people they meet. 

For myself, I often choose to write down names of new people, particularly if I meet many at once. If I end up continuing to talk or meet one of them over and over, I will naturally form a relationship and remember them on my own. (However I can't help but wonder if that means I'm evicting the name of some other loose acquaintance out of my head to compensate).

Remembering names is a nice thing, and there are many books that talk through psyche-visual cueing in mental 'conundrums' to remember them.  That would be really advantageous to become a Manager of Many people, you will earn the respects of the close knit group you create.

Definitely, I believe memory is akin to following a daily routine and keeping a memorandum schedule at the forefront.  Not everyone is capable of the same.

 I found for myself the activity of "making remembrance" part of my morning routine.  I remember the presence of the creator in Unison with the supreme light.  Then I see myself going to the people in the world to make the connection.  The Supreme Light "visit" is the real "beam" of light that you would approach so as not to be stopped by the non-light beings who will interfere with your remembrances of others as equal to the Supercharged light being.  

Being a non-ordinary light being contains so many names.  It's when the travel away from the light hinders our human psyche of minds that we forget.

I am most prone to forgetting people's names when I meet them en masse, then never hear their names again. Often, I will be able to differentiate their faces and our histories afterwards, but not what their names were.

To that end, I focus on remembering the names of a few specific people, especially the ones I will keep speaking to again and again. I usually write their names down after hearing them, so we can stay in touch after the fact, and so I can keep seeing these names too.

Having iPhones has enhanced this process, since I also could memorize what form of access I have, and the context of our meetings.

Name tags are used at most social events and some large meetings have had the same or meeting minutes with the list of attendees at the top.

Someone once said that you should use and repeat their name during the discussion. Start or end the questions with their names. 

Someone once said to create a story or acronym matching their physical appearance with their name. [My thoughts: I cannot remember the name, how will I remember a story or acronym.]

I am and remain social event challenged. My focus immediately turns to trying to remember all the social etiquette do's and don'ts that I have yet to master; I immediately forget all the steps for remembering names.
