Career By Design

I have had this topic in my mind for a little bit now. I aim to be a leader in our profession, I want to lead by example and not by simply saying I want to lead. I came across this interesting article I wanted to share it with all of you. The article is entitled 7 Ways to Boost Your Self-Confidence and Become a More Empathetic Leader. Here is the list of the seven ways:

• Set goals and track your progress

• Celebrate your successes

• Conduct 360-degree assessments with your team

• Keep a "high-five" file

• Establish an accountability partner or board of directors for yourself

• Flip your mindset with a single mantra

• Listen to music that reminds you of important milestones in your life

What kind of leader do you consider yourself? Do you have any advice for other young engineers getting into leadership positions?

As of late I have also been working on self development and leadership.  A book that I really enjoyed and felt helpful is "Radical Candor" by Kim Scott great read.  

One thing I would say is that being a good leader begins with you.  Meaning before you can be expected to lead and motivate others you need to have established goals, motivation and accountability for yourself.
