In the spring of 2014 the Grant Country PUD discovered a 65 foot long by 2 inch wide crack in one of the abutments on Wanapum Dam on the Columbia River. As part of the 2015 Watershed Management Conference being held in August at Wenatchee Washington there will be an Operations Management symposium discussing issues such as this and in addition there will be an opportunity to travel to Wanapum Dam and see first hand the steps that were taken to repair this massive structure and assure its continued use generating hydropower for the Northwest. Plan now to attend and also consider submitting an abstract on this or another Operations Management topic.
