  • 1.  old HEC-1 users manual

    Posted 05-02-2015 09:26 AM
I'm looking for an old 1978 HEC-1 manual so that I can recode the 1978 model into a newer version of HEC-1. Does anyone know a source of obtaining a pdf copy of the 1978 HEC-1 user's manual. I believe the correct title is "Flood Hydrograph Package (Hec1) Users Manual For Dam", 1978. If the manual isn't available does anyone know the input definition of the following cards: B, B1, J, J1, M, P, T, U, U1, X, Y, Y1, Y4, Y5, $S, $E, $$, AND $D. Any help is greatly appreciated. ------------------------------------------- Stanley Johnson P.E., L.S., M.ASCE Chief Engr Columbus OH (614) 864-8405 -------------------------------------------

    Stan,

Here are 5 libraries that seem to have it.

If you still haven't found it, try Dewberry & Davis the FEMA hydraulics consultant.  I also asked the hydraulics expert at PA DEP Dam Safety.

Stanley: Professor Bruce McEnroe at the University of Kansas is a big fan of HEC-1. He is in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department. Perhaps he would have a copy of the HEC-1 manual. Richard F. Geekie, P.E., M.ASCEShawnee, KS 913-669-3370

I found a copy of the HEC-1 Manual on the USACE HEC website under Publications.  The manual is dated June 1998.

I think most of the information you need would be in this manual.  The fields for the cards are located way in the back Appendix A sheet 298 of 434.

    Mr. Johnson,

    Google is your friend J

Not sure why you would want to recode HEC-1.  The Corps has already developed a modern alternative, HEC-HMS.
