    Dear all,
I am about to graduate next year and I am interested in coastal erosion. More specially in coastal protection structures (rubble mound breakwaters, dykes...). I want to do a numerical simulation to check the failure mechanism of these structures and the sedimentation around these structures. It will be helpful for me if I can get advice from experts in that field. The tool I have to do the simulation is COMSOL Multiphysics. Does anyone ever used it for this kind of simulation?
I'm looking forward to hear from you.
    Thank you in advance.
    Regards

I have not used COMSOL, but it seems to me the software may not be as robust as you require in the areas of applications (failure mechanisms of coastal protection structures, and sedimentation) you are looking for. In any case, perhaps the two topics are too elaborate and complicated to be successfully finished within a short period of time you have – even if you are quite proficient in COMSOL. But all depends on personal resolve and wish you good luck!

I have used COMSOL on a few applications over the years. It will do anything, but not necessary do it easily.  It requires a lot of time on any complicated simulation, such as yours. I would not recommend attempting using it unless you have good technical support from someone with experience with the code.
