  • 1.  ANNIE alternative for WDM file creation

    Posted 01-20-2016 11:03 PM

Looking for an alternative for creating WDM files for use in HSPF modeling. Have been using ANNIE with a text template file to create a WDM file and empty time series DSNs with correct attributes. ANNIE does not work in Windows 7 and subsequent Windows operating systems. Will likely need to find an alternative option in the near future to continue to create WDM files. Any help is appreciated.

I share your concerns, Keith, regarding ANNIE. Although it is ancient, the scripting capability makes it so versatile that I still use it all the time. Since I have such a large library of scripts, I am loathe to start over again with another program, particularly since I have not seen any good options that are as easy to use for what I need to do.

To work around the 64-bit issue, I open a Windows XP mode window in Win7. This works pretty well. A little cumbersome but since the XP mode window is able to copy to and from networked drives of Win7, it is not that bad. You can download XP mode from Windows website. Unfortunately, XP mode is no longer supported in Win10 so this solution's days are numbered. I expect there are other emulators for Win10 but they may be less well integrated than Windows version.

    Good luck
