What Best Practices does your Section/Branch utilize for Student Transitions.  Have your programs been working and what can you recommend?

Within our Illinois Section, we have 3 universities.  Every year, a group of ASCE professionals takes the time to do a university visit (with a presentation and lunch) where we explain what the ASCE organization is about, the different opportunities they can network within our Section, and we provide the scholarships available.  We also tie this with a QA session for students to ask professionals questions on their careers and why ASCE is valuable to them.

What we've found is that many students may not fully understand how large ASCE is globally and that the student chapter is just the first step in their careers within ASCE.  For them to hear it from professionals gets our point across.  The more opportunities we can provide for students to engage with ASCE professionals can really help them understand that ASCE beyond college is valuable.

After seeing many students get involved with our Section events, we find that quite a few students continue to be part of ASCE after they graduate.
