Subject: New ASTM Practice on Infrastructure Management
ASTM International will soon publish standard practice E3210 Practice for Infrastructure Management that allows an authority that delivers infrastructure asset services to demonstrate transparency and accountability with those who receive those services. I served as task manager for the effort and am excited to pass the word of its availability. It was designed to prevent the recent disasters in Flint, Michigan (water supply), London's Grenfell Towers (building fire safety), and Miami, FLA (pedestrian bridge collapse), by requiring two community engagement events during a 3 to 5 year cycle of assessment. Customized benchmarks based on recipient input. Revenue and outlays openly presented for dialogue on expanding or reducing services. Unique concept that "nature" is a type of infrastructure, on par with water supply, and police protection, among twelve other types. In this way, environmental protection/climate change/biodiversity is never an afterthought. Soon there will be webinars to present ideas, but now seeking organizations to become early adopters. If you are interested, please comment in the thread.
