I am a mid-level career Hydraulic/Water resources Engineer with 10 years of experience in planning, design, construction and operation of water infrastructures. My experience is mainly in areas of road way drainage and storm water management, river training and flood protection, watershed management and erosion control, irrigation and drainage system design.

I recently moved to US and want to continue my professional career. I need your advice , what is the best way to look for a job in the US and meet potential employers?

    Thanks,

    Hi Abrham,

I'm on the board of the Richmond ASCE Branch.  Our next branch meeting, on May 22 will be a presentation by a water resources engineer.  If you would like to join, the link to register is here http://ascerichmond.org/events/1550/.  Our branch is very active and a great place to meet other civil engineers.  I encourage you to become a member of the Richmond branch of ASCE so that you will receive the monthly newsletter with information about all of our scheduled events.

    Thanks!
    Catherine

    Hi Catherine,

Thank you for you advice. I am already member of Richmond ASCE Branch and I have also registered for May 22 presentation. I will use this opportunity to meet Civil engineers in the same profession. I hope to meet you there if you are participating.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Abrham,

As Catherine mentioned, your local chapter is a great way to meet other engineers.

You probably already know this, but just in case. Generic job resources, such as https://www.indeed.com often post engineering jobs. I've seen a few Water Resources jobs pop up for Washington DC area lately. ASCE also has job postings here https://careers.asce.org/jobs/ Unfortunately, most of the postings, especially for smaller firms, do not provide visa sponsorship, if this is something you require.

    Good luck!
