As I have served as an ASCE Topic Moderator for the past year or so, I thought I would compile some best practices I have learned about threads I have personally seen to get more traffic. These are to be used in conjunction with those shown in ASCE Collaborate's Code of Conduct:
https://collaborate.asce.org/codeofconduct
Best Practices for ASCE Collaborate Discussions:
- Like an email, try to capture the essence of your thread in your subject line.
- Try to restrict your initial post to asking only 1-2 questions. Bolding the question(s) also helps for it to stand out.
- Questions seeking advice on a particular topic (i.e. How do you manage stress in the workplace?) seem to do fairly well in engagement
- From personal experience, the best times to post are Sunday through Tuesday if possible.
