    Hi Peter, thanks for your post.

    It is most important for engineers to engage in their professional development.

    What has changed is the need to add to keeping their technology knowledge and skills

    current, the same need for their so-called "Soft Skills."

    The formal education university engineering programs continue to excel.

    However, what is either absent or lagging is the formal education and training to equip engineers

    to routinely cooperate, coordinate, and communicate effectively and efficiently within

    program/project life as well as within their organizations.

    There is a need for the Professional Training to be directed to the Engineer areas of interest.

    You really hit the nail on the head. Trainings should be in line with the Engineer's/Organization's vision and goal.
