Does anyone have a sample Terms & Conditions for residential structural engineering services? Scope of work performed, just evaluations of Foundation walls cracks, structural integrity? I would appreciate recommendations.

    Thank you,

A good place to start is by looking at: Standard Form of Agreement Between Owner and Engineer for Professional Services published by Engineers Joint Contract Documents Committee (EJCDC) Appendix G of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE).

    www.nspe.org

For information on ordering these and other EJCDC documents, call 1-800-417-0348 or visit National Society of Professional Engineers |

You may need to adapt this document to suit your specific case, but it might be good for you to review it carefully and edit it as requited, or Google out for something similar in the web. You might be surprised how many PDF similar forms you will find, it is worth to look a bit.

Did you know that SEI and CASE/ACEC will be having a session on Contracts at Structures Congress? CASE/ACEC has Contract templates for all types of projects and are used by most SE in private practice including residential projects.

The CASE documents are our go-to whenever we are writing the professional services contract.  Great value included in the CASE membership fee. If we're writing the construction contract front end we like the EJCDC documents.  ASCE's Construction Institute is on of the big three publishing them.

REMUNERATION FOR ENGINEERING SERVICE: Terms & Conditions for residential structural engineering services?

Considering the work scope, which is structural integrity test and inspection of foundation, wall cracks, and enumerating on the failure mode and sustainability
Foundation is within the soil ground, but if there is settlement it can be pronounced in the substructures, through vertical downward displacement of the structure. When the displacement becomes excessive, it could affect the functionality of the building.
Wall Cracks: Cracks in non-load bearing walls can easily be amended than for load bearing walls.
Structural Integrity Tests can be performed, if the observed characteristic is critical and could affect the service performance. The common integrity tests for existing structures are non destructive, to determine the stress limit, strain and existing deformation on the structure, and to suggest methods of rehabilitation.

The remunerations will be determined from the magnitude of service, and cost per unit of the activities.

The best agreement for a small residential project is CASE Document 1, a two-sided agreement with the agreement on one side and terms and conditions on the other side.  All of the CASE Documents are free if you are a member of ACEC CASE.  The documents are in "Word" format.  They can be individually purchased at Home Page
