I am working on design of earthquake resistant building. My aim is to give this world a better and safe place to live.

Recently I came up with a new design of earthquake resistant building which is far better than any our conventional building designs, this design is best suitable for tall or medium height buildings on hard stratum.

So my concern is, how do I patent it before taking it to next level to share this design on a global level?

I live in India and here, there are lots of brain drains and we Indians do not have much inventions which are globally known, so if any one can help me and understand how to patent a design, please help.

    thank you

    Dear Deepanshu Bisht

You should firstly demonstrate that design by publishing it in a research articles of very good impact factor, you alone can't apply for a patent , you have to involve at least one faculty member.

    Some ideas/comments:

    1)  Solicit the service of a professional patent lawyer

    OR

    2)  File yourself

    Options:
    (1)  File locally only in your country
    (2)  File internationally with a few select countries

    Useful Searches/Research:
    a)  Are there existing patents for similar application?
    b)  How does your design compare with those in pre-existing patents as well as international building codes (eg.  Indian Standards, Eurocode, ACI, etc.) which already cater for earthquake-resistant design and the rationale for design?
