Does anyone know of a well organized/useful text which walk through best practices or manual for municipal engineering, covering the latest codes and standards?  I am thinking specifically for water main design and/or sewer design.  I have my old text books to reference, but was hoping for something more recent.

Check out the Bentley Press suite of books for water resources. Easy to read, goes into a lot of detail on design, and even explains and demonstrates software needed to model using trial versions. Photos attached below.

    Jacob,

There are a set of standards for water work and one for wastewater that is published by the Great Lakes Upper Mississippi River Board, commonly referred to as the "Ten State Standards" that are commonly used in the design industry. I would encourage anyone reading this post to check with their state's EPA or DNR agency for more local requirements. The link to the standards  Great Lakes - Upper Mississippi River Board .

Check the Dublin / San Ramon Services District standards.  They are very good and updated frequently.  It is California based, so likely somewhat more stringent.
