    Hello,

I'd like to share our little success on site regarding grading works.

I work in senegal where torrential rains are a regular feature for 3 months a year.
During the execution of grading works, we faced shortage of fill material.
The team got together and brainstormed with one goal in mind - completion of
task successfully with resources at hand.

It was a site base for concrete plants and storage facilities. Hence a slope wouldn't really damage the essential functioning of the plot.
we added a collection tank to the existing design and created a slope following the natural terrain.

Today, there was a very heavy downpour . Ordinarily, the area should
have been waterlogged. However, owing to the slope and collection tank, the
land is not waterlogged and the rainwater is collected safely.
This was almost like a trial run prior to handover.

I have attached pictures of the same.

This is a huge success for the team. They are a group of highly motivated,
hardworking individuals. Every member including the operators had inputs in the success of the project.

We managed to use minimal resources, minimum time, maximum benefits and no rework! i.e. quality.

The idea of teamwork, the essential function of an engineer with cost, time and quality in mind has what made this a huge success.

I am currently mentoring a group of engineers, and this is exactly what I have been teaching over the past few months.

I wanted to share this with my fellow engineers and thank my mentors

Pictures attached (After a heavy downpour of 2 hours)

Now THAT is the practice of engineering!  Formulae and math are only functions of engineering.  Congratulations on a wise application.
