Lane Zarate– Streets and Stormwater Operations Assistant Director

 Lane is the Transportation & Public Works Assistant Director overseeing the Streets and Stormwater Operations Division. Lane will be responsible for performing maintenance and repair of the City’s public street system, public drainage systems, and emergency response during emergency winter and flood events.

Lane has almost 20 years of multidiscipline engineering and management experience.  After joining the City of Fort Worth as Engineering Manager in 2017, she was responsible for managing a team delivering over $90 Million in capital programs. In her most recent role she was responsible for overseeing multiple teams, providing strategic planning within budget constraints, to optimize maintenance for over 8,100 lane miles of City streets and 425 City bridges. Prior to joining the City of Fort Worth, Lane worked at Freese & Nichols Inc. in the Program Management Group and managed the DFW Airport TRIP program. She has a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington and is a Certified Construction Manager since 2016.

A person in a white jacketDescription automatically generatedJennifer is the Transportation and Public Works Department Assistant Director responsible for the Stormwater Management Program.  Jennifer oversees the strategic direction, priorities and budget for the maintenance and repair of the City’s drainage system, mitigation of flood and erosion hazards, warning of stormwater risks through mapping and the high-water warning system, and the review of private development plans for compliance with City drainage standards.

Jennifer joined the City of Fort Worth Stormwater Management Program in 2014.  Since joining the team, she had the opportunity to lead the development of the Program’s strategic master plan and the initial establishment of the City’s Open Space Conservation Program.  Before coming to the City in 2014, Jennifer managed environmental and flood mitigation planning efforts in Houston at the Harris County Flood Control District.  She is a proud Texas Aggie, Class of 2002, with a Bachelor’s in Renewable Natural Resources and Master’s in Urban Planning.
