The Wilmington Waterfront Promenade project is a $77 million world-class redevelopment project that is near completion and aims to transform a previously inaccessible industrial area to a place meant for people, where community can enjoy the water’s edge. Through community input the project will feature amenities such as the signature play tower and slide at the playground, family-style picnic tables, shade structures on the bluff, and shade structures on the public pier. Moreover, the signature design element of this waterfront promenade park will be its iconic Arizona Onyx stone tidal steps that recede into the water, glistening from the promenade and the pier. In total the project will have developed a nine acre park consisting of a 1,300 linear foot promenade, a 5,400 square foot public pier with shade structures and picnic tables, a 10,000 square foot children’s play space and 1 acre community plaza with various lawn spaces for gatherings and live entertainment. This presentation will share the significant construction progress made in transforming a previously industrial area, shed light on some of the major milestones reached, and pinpoint some of the remaining items to achieve completion.
