ASCE Austin is excited to host Nikolas "Niko" Kalos as our May speaker! Niko will be giving a presentation on Three-Girder Steel Straddle Bent Caps. Please join us for a technical discussion of the three-girder steel straddle bent caps used by TxDOT on the Direct Connectors of LP 1604/IH-10 Interchange in San Antonio, TX. These steel caps are some of the first Load Path Redundant Member (LPRM) steel bent caps implemented in the State of Texas!

Nikolas “Niko” Kalos is a Senior Structural Engineer with LJA Engineering based in Katy, TX. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech University. His 11 years of professional experience is focused on bridge engineering in Texas. He has designed a wide variety of bridge types across the state, from simple creek crossings to complex direct connectors for interchange projects. His portfolio also includes a significant amount of marine structural engineering and retaining wall design experience. 

NOTE: Time is allotted for lunch beginning at 11:30 AM. The meeting and speaker presentation will begin around 12 PM. A short period for questions & answers is reserved prior to 1 PM.

Registration ends on Friday, May 17th; you may still attend by paying at the door (cash, check, paypal). As a non-profit, we operate on a budget that is highly dependent on revenue from sponsorships, membership fees, and event/program fees (such as this luncheon). To help ensure a meal headcount for our events we require registration in advance. At this time, we do not offer refunds.
