ASCE is a national partner with the American Public Health Association, signatory to it's initiative "Joint Call to Action to Promote Healthy Communities".

The call to action is being implemented locally. In Colorado, other signatory organizations are taking the lead and Colorado Section ASCE Sustainability Committee is participating.

Attention:  Health Symposium attendees and friends!

Attached for your information are materials from the Creating Healthy Places events this past April.  One attachment is the summary of the discussion and outcomes from the Joint Call-to-Action Symposium of Allied Associations and Organizations.  There were nearly 60 attendees representing more 20 statewide associations and organizations at the symposium.  The other attachment is a copy of the presentation used throughout the symposium.

From the summary, you can see that there is strong interest and energy in establishing a statewide collaborative to share information and to coordinate efforts relating to health and the built environment.  Stay tuned for follow-up information on launching the collaborative.

Also forthcoming will be the presentations from the health experts who led the workshop on lecture titled Communities in Transition:  Health Implications.  They shared expertise from the East Coast, Mid-West, and California in terms of understanding the multiple health impacts of displacement and neglect in under-privileged neighborhoods going through redevelopment.

In the meantime, more information on health impact projects at CU Denver sponsored by the Colorado Health Foundation and the Colorado Chapter of the American Planning Association is available on-line at:  http://murp.cudenvercap.org/who-we-are/ccsu/ccsu-projects/

Thank you for your interest and support.
