    Hi this is sathya from Chennai,Tamil Nadu 
    I am currently pursuing my final year B.E.Civil Engg in St.Joseph's college of Engineering (Anna university affiliated), I want to pursue my career in the field of Green buildings ,Zero energy buildings I am confused to proceed with which course to opt for higher studies, whether to do M.E or MS in whichever option I want to know which is the right course for my career option?

    Hi Sathya,

    Good to see your message. What you asked is an interesting and relevant question. I do also had similar confusion. Following are my thoughts on that:

    1. If you have a research topic in your mind, perhaps not specific but a general research idea, then you can opt for a MS (by research).

    2. If you wanted to do an independent study and get specialised yourselves with a particular topic in green buildings or so than you can opt for MS as ME provides again an broad coverage about green buildings (like Civil Engineering in Bachelors) 

    3. If you have a desire to do a Doctoral study in the future, then MS (by research) is the best option as you can easily convert it to a PhD in the middle.

    4 Both for ME and MS you have so many Universities/ Institutes, but for MS you can always opt for a top-University when you have a good research topic and proposal with you.
