We had a few outstanding questions from last Thursdays @ 3- The Intersection of Infrastructure & Economic Policy in the Biden Administration. I wanted to share them here with responses from our panelists to continue the conversation. You can view the whole conversation here in the recording

    Question 1:
The 2021 Infrastructure Report Card grade is a C-. What is an acceptable Infrastructure Report Card grade to implement the ASCE Future World Vision?

    Answer:
ASCE has always shot for the infrastructure to reach a grade of B.

    Question 2:

The House recently voted to bring earmarks back. Will that help move an infrastructure bill

Answer: While, ASCE does not weigh in support or opposition for project specific earmarks, the tool has historically allowed for infrastructure legislation to be bipartisan. Earmarks, or Congressional directed appropriations, allow Members of Congress to directly tie specific legislation to projects being done in their districts. Creating by reinstating earmarks, and ensuring transparency in the process, Congress has implemented a powerful tool that can foster bipartisan support going forward.
