  • 1.  ASCE Annual Report - Tips?

    Posted 11-10-2020 08:26 PM
Each year ASCE asks Sections, Branches, Younger Member Groups, Student Chapters, and Regions to submit an Annual Report of their activities to ASCE headquarters. The data in these reports satisfy a variety of requirements that are beneficial to the health of the Society. This information is also used to help populate infographics like the one shown here: ASCE Annual Report.

As this is the first time that I am tasked with filling this out for my Younger Member Group, does anyone have any tips or things I should keep in mind when completing the Annual Report?

    Any advice is appreciated!

    Good afternoon @Danielle Schroeder,

If this is your first time, I would suggest seeing if anyone kept a Word copy of the previous year's submittal. If not, then I recommend starting to do that for your group moving forward. Most groups do the same activities, or similar activities, every year where it is easy to just update information. Even if there is a new activity, it is pretty easy to add an activity to the previously prepared list.

If you are starting from scratch, then it could take a little longer to prepare your list. I would first look at your calendar of events from last year and start compiling a list and add topics, speakers, and attendance information. Once you have prepared your list, then start compiling the information per the Society's format. I suggest doing this in Word so you can use it as a reference for next year. Once you have reviewed your activities, see if there is a lesson learned from one activity to another. You may also realize the strengths and areas for improvement for your group.

I hope this helps! Feel free to reach out to bounce ideas off!
