    Hi Mateo,

Great use of formatting! You have some great content on your resume and I appreciate that you already had your present work in present tense!

A few suggestions on ways you can further improve your resume:

    ·         Did you know that you can customize you LinkedIn URL to just your name? instructions in the following article: https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/87/customizing-your-public-profile-url?lang=en

    ·         For further improving your experience bullet points, I recommend reading the following ASCE Article, specifically section 3 about "Telling, not showing":   https://collaborate.asce.org/careerbydesign/blogs/stephanie-slocum1/2020/03/05/top-7-mistakes-civil-engineers-make-on-resumes

    ·         Could add what version of the program i.e. AutoCAD 2020

    ·         Instead of the skills section, I would love to see how you have worked on these skills. Is the "Pavement Analysis and Design" related to your research? A graduate education course?

    ·         For "American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) (08/2018)" is this that you are a member? If so I would recommend revising to "American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) – Member (08/2018 - Present)"

    Sincerely,

    Dani

    Taikhum,
Overall, you have a really good starting point for your resume. Relevant information is laid out well and the use of bullet points keeps things organized and concise. You have headings on the second page of you resume, which is great, and the look of your resume is professional.

One thing that is hard to know from your resume, is what your professional interests are. I saw that a few of your entries were related to earthquake engineering. Is that something you are interested in? If so, it should be highlighted more prominently in your resume.

Also try to think of the person who is reading your resume. What do they need to know? You provided, your contact information, education, work experience and related skills; which is a great starting point. Refer to my comment about adding an "Objective" or "Purpose" section to yuor resume. That will help you define what you are looking for and let potential employers know if your goals align with theirs.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions on my comments.

    Thanks.

    Mayra,
Your resume looks professional and I can tell you have put some time into formatting your resume, and it shows. Good work. You have done a good job of organizing your resume and using bullet points to convey your information concisely. Your resume is a single page, which is perfect in your case.

I have made a few comments on some entries just to make them easier to understand for someone who is reading your resume. Keep in mind that not everyone reading your resume will be an engineer.

I saw a few entries on your resume related to mentoring or tutoring. Is this something you are interested in? I would suggest putting an emphasis on entries that you are passionate about. This can help make you stand out compared to other students.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions on my comments.

    Thanks.

    Zubaeer,
I have reviewed your resume and it looks professional and is well organized. Your resume is a single page, which is perfect in your case. Good work.

I have made a few comments on some entries so they are consistent with the rest of your resume. Your resume should be formatted cohesively.

    Maxx,
I have reviewed your resume and it is very professional with its formatting. Using bullet points is a great way to convey your information in a concise and organized way.

You have a diverse work history. I would suggest using your opening statement to highlight your talents and what you are looking for in a potential job. See my comments on this section.

Make sure to keep a consistent format throughout you resume. Keep in mind the audience for your resume, and what information they are looking for.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions on my comments.

    Hello Tepolak,

Firstly, you have a great resume which is reflective of the work you have put in already in your studies and internships.

Your resume is very organized and using bullets makes it really easy to read.

    Here are a few recommendations:

I feel like the resume content blends together.  I recommend differentiating the different sections maybe by bolding or underlining items.
I suggest putting your name and information into the header to maximize space and ensure it shows up on each page.
Lastly, can you reduce spacing between lines.

    Hello Dawit,

Your resume is awesome, I really struggled to find any recommendations or areas of change/improvement.

Your resume is very organized and easy to read as you have it laid out.

Here are a few minor recommendations:

    1. I would put all of your contact information in the header of the document so it shows up on each page.  This way, should the pages get separated, they can still contact you.
    2. I would recommend changing the title of the section CURRENT RESEARCHES to CURRENT RESEARCH or CURRENT RESEARCH PROJECTS

Overall - nice work.  I hope you find these recommendations to be helpful!

    Hello Pruthviraj,

Firstly, you have a great overall resume with a lot of good information!

Your resume is very organized and using bullets makes it really easy to read.

    Here are a few recommendations:

    1. You might consider shaping the opening sentence more into a sentence with a beginning and end, like this:

Hard working individual, dedicated to design with the right engineering principles constantly accepting new challenges, keeping work priorities and self-development vital - seeking a civil engineering position.

    2. I recommend moving the Skills and Design sections at the top to the bottom, so that your professional experience is front and center.
    3. Lastly, I would have someone with an English or writing background give the entire resume a review.  I always recommend this to engineers

Overall - nice work.  I hope you find these recommendations to be helpful!

    Hello Sherly,

Firstly, you have a great overall resume with a lot of good information!

Your resume is very organized and using bullets makes it really easy to read.

    Here are a few recommendations:

    1. Make sure your text style is the same throughout.  It looks like you may have used a few different texts styles in the blue header.
    2. I recommend moving the Technical Skills section at the top to the bottom, right below Work Experience, so that your professional experience is front and center.
    3. Lastly, I would have someone with an English or writing background give the entire resume a review.  I always recommend this to technical professionals, we tend to need a good polish on our writing.

Overall - nice work.  I hope you find these recommendations to be helpful!

    Hi Carlos,

I reviewed your resume and you can see my feedback in the PDF attached. Overall you have a great resume and think you can make it stand out even more with some adjustments with how you format your resume. Indentation and using your space effectively can make a huge difference in how you convey important information.

I would recommend adding some space in between each section so it doesn't look too congested.

If you are submitting job applications with your resume right now, you should remove the job experience that shows you will start in January 2021 because you cannot speak on that experience since you haven't started yet. Once January rolls around, you can have that listed.

If you have any questions/comments about my feedback, feel free to reach out and I'm happy to help!

    Hi Jack,

I reviewed your resume and provided my feedback in the PDF attached.

Some of my general comments were:
    • Never use "I" in your resume
    • use lines to separate sections in your resume like you did with your summary
    • stay consistent with formatting, alignment, text sizes, font styles, etc
Since you have some extra space in your resume and you're looking to fill it up, I would recommend adding any engineering projects that you've done in school and these can be individual or group projects. This is a great way to showcase your skills as a civil engineer.

If you have any questions/comments about my feedback, feel free to reach out and happy to help!

    Hi Naoki,

I reviewed your resume and provided my feedback in the PDF attached.

My general feedback for you is:
    • don't repeat information twice (like your name)
    • avoid color on your resume, it's more professional to have it in b&w
    • spell out abbreviations/acronyms
    • if you have any non-engineering jobs or extracurriculars that you did in high school, you can add that to your resume since you just started college
If you have any questions/comments about the feedback, feel free to reach out and I'm happy to help!

    Hi Suhas,

Your resume is off to a great start. The content is solid - you have described a lot of practical work experiences on each project. A few suggestions:

    • Rephrase or merge the bullet points that begin with "worked on." I want to know what you specifically did. You might still work in a way to mention what the project was and its value, but I would shy away from devoting a whole bullet point just to the project without explanation of your achievements.
    • There is a bit of a "wall of text" effect happening, especially in the middle of the page. Are there any bullet points you can remove, or merge, to allow for a bit of spacing between projects or workplaces? For example, skills that are shared among different projects (coordination/collaboration skills, report or proposal prep, etc.) could be listed only once. Allowing some space will make it much easier to read, which should be a priority just as much as the content. The formatting of the top and bottom looks nice.
    • A few items don't need to be capitalized: polymer and cementitious types of pipelining, hydraulic actuator, submittals, quantity take offs, concrete mix design reports.
If you can address these, your resume will be a lot smoother to read and in good shape!

    Best,
    Katie

    Hi Amit,

The content and formatting on this look good - very few suggestions. It's clear you've put some good work into this. My suggestions:

    • Rephrase the second Estimator Intern bullet, "created estimated averaging..." It's not clear (to me, at least, although I'm not an estimator) what it means.
    • Next bullet down, change selecting to select, or selected. Try and keep verb tense consistent. Are these tasks past or ongoing?

    Hi Divyesh,

Your resume looks great! I love the colors and strategic bolding. It draws attention where you want it, while still done tastefully / not overdone.

    I have a few suggestions:
    • You can rephrase the second sentence of your summary to be more direct and cut a few words: "I bring to the table not only ..."
    • "while controlled blasting" --> "during controlled blasting"
    • Given your attention to layout formatting, I also encourage you to check the spacing and other text formatting. Specifically, check spacing of commas, hyphens, and parentheses in Technical Skills and Academic Projects sections
    • Write out your full school names. Even though people might well know the schools from the abbreviations, don't assume that everyone who sees your resume will.
You have a lot of good content as well as design choices, and with these revisions I think your resume will be good to go.

    Best,
    Katie

    George,
you weren't kidding when you said it is wordy. I think a lot of people feel they need to fill their resume as much as they can but really you just need to get the right information in there. My personal opinion for an entry level job, is to not list work experience that doesnt help showcase things you learned. Clearing up some space will also allow you to reformat a bit which will make it feel less wordy. Aside from this, your resume looks very professional so good job with the formatting.
I have added comments to the pdf attached.

    Chris,
you have an impressive work experience; however, I don't think many people will spend the time to read everything you've included on your resume. I have inlcuded comments on the attached pdf. My main recommendation would be to get your resume down to 1 page. That might make you nervous but it's doable. Focus on key terms and descriptions that help you stand out from all the other water engineers you know. What skills and experience have you acquired that they might not have. good luck!

    Hi Megan,

Visually, this is a great use of the 1 page! The content is solid – a few ways to improve further are listed below.

    • From the rest of your resume, I think your profile needs to be updated to reflect that you graduated in May 2020.

    • If it is present work, I recommend writing in the present tense (It looks like Kimley Horn experience is present, so should be in present tense)

    • Could add what version of the program i.e. AutoCAD 2020

    • In terms of skills, I would much rather see how you implement these skills in your Activities and Experiences sections (i.e. how have you utilized your organizational skills as Recruitment Chair for AOE?)

    • For further improving your experience bullet points, I recommend reading the following ASCE Article, specifically section 3 about "Telling, not showing": https://collaborate.asce.org/careerbydesign/blogs/stephanie-slocum1/2020/03/05/top-7-mistakes-civil-engineers-make-on-resumes

    Hi Adriano,

I love the use of color to make the headers pop! The content is solid so great work! As a resume is typically one page, I have focused my suggestions on ways you can cut down wording:

    ·         Bullet points don't need to be full sentences, so for "I have five years of experience in teaching civil engineering at the undergraduate level with emphasis on structural engineering disciplines such as Applied statistics; Concrete structures; Structural analysis; Metallic structures and Mixed structures." You can shorten to "5 years experience teaching undergraduate civil engineering classes in the following topics: Applied statistics, Concrete structures, Structural analysis, Metallic structures and Mixed structures."

    ·         For shortening the Skills section, "I speak four different languages: Fluent in Portuguese and Cape Verdean Creole; Advanced level in English; Intermediate level in Spanish" can be changed to "Languages:  Portuguese (Fluent), Cape Verdean Creole(Fluent), English (Advanced level), Spanish(Intermediate level)

    ·         For work history, I would love to see more on the quantity side:

o   How many students are you advising for their thesis projects?

o   How many civil engineering departmental materials have you published? Or in what timeframe? Weekly? Monthly? Quarterly?

o   For further improving your experience bullet points, I recommend reading the following ASCE Article, specifically section 3 about "Telling, not showing":   https://collaborate.asce.org/careerbydesign/blogs/stephanie-slocum1/2020/03/05/top-7-mistakes-civil-engineers-make-on-resumes

    ·         I would recommend leaving "Structural Earthquake Engineering for Buildings Certificate Program" off for space until you have completed the certification

    Sincerely,
    Dani

    Hi Afroz Khan,

These headers are nice! You have some great content on your resume.

A few suggestions on ways you can further improve your resume:

    ·         Add an additional "w" to your LinkedIn listed at the top

    ·         For the Membership and Certifications, I would love to see how long you have been a part of these organizations like "Member of American Society of Civil Engineers (2013 – Present). Also, ASCE is a global organization with a presence in over 177 countries although our headquarters is in the U.S.!

    ·         For professional experience, I would limit the use of paragraphs and revise this section to use bullet points to summarize your experience

    ·         For the Educational Qualification, you can remove "Month and Year of Passing" from each bullet point and just keep the date. I typically see the full duration you were at last place listed i.e. June 2012 – June 2017.

    Sincerely,

    Dani

Rifat, This is a decent start. It's good that you're outlining your experiences, skills and interests. You have adequate space on your page to add more information to better portray what your qualifications are. I recommend taking a look at some of the other resumes that have been submitted here and the examples from ASCE. Please see attached for additional comments.

Vaishnav, Your resume provides a good picture of your credential and experiences. Nice work. My comments are attached. Unfortunately I'm only familiar with standard resume practices for the US. I tried to keep my comments to general practices, but if you are planning to submit this outside of the US, they may not all be relevant.

I have reviewed your resume and attached my comments.

Overall, you have a professional and well organized resume. I really like that you included an Objective section. Good job!

I think you can keep all of the content on your resume and shrink it down to a single page with some formatting. I think re-organizing the sections of your resume will make it easier for the reader of your resume to find the information they are looking for easier.

I have reviewed and attached my comments on your resume.

Overall, you have a lot of great information on your resume. It is organized and professional looking. The formatting is consistent and easy to follow. Good job.

I like that you kept your resume to a single page, but in doing so, your resume has become crowded. Consider removing entries from high school that may not be relevant to engineering industry in an effort to save space.

    Ibrahim,
I have reviewed and attached comments for your resume.

I really like the look of the formatting you have for your resume. It is simple, but unique, and keeps the sections of your resume easily separated and organized. Good work.

Really look at my comment on adding an Objective section to your resume, as I feel that will have the biggest impact on your resume.

Let me know if you have any questions on my comments.

    Hi Camille,

I reviewed your resume and provided my feedback in the PDF attached. You have a great looking resume with a lot of experience to show for it and it was awesome to see that you've had 2 publications!

    Overall my general feedback is:
    • move Education section to the bottom of your resume since you've graduated from college and have industry experience
    • don't overwhelm your resume with every single detail - especially since your resume is more than 1 page and you should try and fit everything into 1 page (but I do love that you've quantified your actions so that we can see the impact of your job!)
    • reorganize your resume so that Research & Industry Experience comes first after your summary/objective
If you have any comments or questions about my feedback, feel free to reach out and I'm happy to help!

    Hi Camille,

This updated version looks really good - well done! Very impressed that you were able to condense down from 2 pages into 1 page.

I noticed that you left out 1 of your 2 publications and I actually think that you should include both of them in there, especially since you mention that one of your projects led to 2 publications in your summary. I think if you continue adjusting the spacing and removing some filler words you can make space for your 2nd publication.

I noticed a few minor things so please see the attached PDF for some more of my feedback.

    Thanks!

    Hi Joyce,

Thank you for your patience. I was able to include my 2 publications into my 1-page resume and address other things as your recommendation. I have attached my last version here if you like to have a look. I think it is very good now.

Thank you very much for taking the time to look at many versions of my resume. I could not appreciate enough!

    Hi Camille,

I appreciate you taking my feedback - I totally agree with you and believe you have a very strong resume now!

My only comment on your updated version is that I caught a small typo in the last sentence of your summary/objective. Looks like you typed "valuem" instead of "value".

Best of luck with finding an entry-level job, I'm sure your resume will wow people!

    Good evening,

Recent graduate looking for a civil engineering position. This resume was written under the assumption that a job application would accept a CV. Hence, I have elected to write the objective/personal summary in my CV to allow for more space on my resume. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Quinn,

I reviewed your resume and provided my feedback in the PDF attached. Overall I thought you had a very well organized resume!

    My general comments are:
    • remove periods at the end of your bullet points
    • make sure to add months where you include dates (month/year)
    • keep your text alignment consistent (bold text under University Projects should be aligned/indented left)
    • I wasn't sure if you were still in school or you graduated already, so if you are still in school Education should be at the very top of your resume. If you have graduated from school and are currently working, you should move Education to the very bottom of your resume
If you have any comments or questions about my feedback, feel free to reach out and I'm happy to help!

    Hi Kenny,

I reviewed your resume and provided my feedback in the PDF attached. Your resume is very clean and organized!

    My general comments are:
    • make your resume fit into 1 page since you have the space for it
    • decrease your top and bottom margins to utilize the blank space
    • remove periods at the end of your bullet points
    • replace your personal statement with an objective that tells me what you are interested in your career
    • move all your dates (month/year) to the right side so that are aligned all to the right for consistency
    • move Education to the top of your resume since you are still in school
    • include any project experience from engineering courses that showcase your skills as a civil engineering student

    My general comments are:
    • avoid color on your resume, b&w is more professional
    • write your responsibilities in the past tense if it's previous experience
    • if you are still in school, Education should be at the top of your resume

    Hi Joshua,

Overall your resume looks polished and complete. A few minor suggestions to make it smoother:

    • End of professional summary: change 'getting' to 'get'
    • Be consistent with the punctuation at the end of bullets. For example, I would change the semicolon from your first bullet to a period to match the others, and remove the semicolon from "interacted and had insightful discussions" bullet.
    • Check bullet spacing/tab in the Engineering Communities experience item
    • Ikpoba River Dam: capitalize each word. Analytical and creative thinking skills: only capitalize first word.
    • This doesn't have to change now, but if in the future you need to save space to include additional experience or info, there are lots of opportunities to consolidate in the right column. LinkedIn can be with the rest of contact info. Describing skill level on skill bullets is nice when you have room, but to save space you can just list software or skill names.
Great work putting together a clear, attractive resume and best of luck!

    Best,
    Katie

    Hi Atere,

The content of your first page looks great. You concisely and effectively describe your work history and a number of skills, using active verbs at the beginning of each bullet - great work!

The formatting needs some updates though.
    • I strongly recommend getting rid of the table. A table may help use space more effectively for a small section, e.g. your two-column layout for technical and personal skills looks nice, but the whole resume should not be a table. Even when using column layout such as for technical and personal skills, I recommend just arranging the text in columns without using visible dividing lines.
    • I also recommend consolidating onto one page. Sometimes late-career professionals may need to use two pages, but students and early-career professionals should stick to one page. Here are some suggestions for making it shorter:
      • Reducing the spacing can help; it looks like you used 1.5-line or double spacing, and 1.15-line spacing can still be easily readable since you have nice concise bullet points.
      • The heading "key responsibilities" for each experience item is not needed. You can list the job name and location and move straight to the bullet points.
      • Sections for hobbies, interests, and references don't really need to be on your resume. Employers will assume that you can provide references on request.
      • Some of the older experience items that were mostly training, or were a long time ago, can be removed if you need space.
    • Please check spacing of headings - TechTopia should be on the left like the other company names.
    • Change 'till date' to 'present' if you are still at TechTopia; otherwise list your end date.
    • Un-bold the Personal Skills heading to match Technical Skills.
    • Typo: 'Referees' should be 'References' if you decide to keep this section.
    • Near the bottom of p. 1, organise should be lowercase.
    • Near the top of p. 2, missing word: 'the use of AutoCAD'
    • If you do keep the older experience items, please elaborate. I don't really have a good idea of what type of projects you worked on at the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority, or what the National Centre for Hydropower Research and Development's field research mission was.

You have a great start, and while formatting may be tedious to do, it will go a long way to make your resume feel a lot smoother. Best of luck!

    Best,
    Katie

    Hi Atere,

Great work, and a quick turnaround! This looks very nice and is much easier to read, and your responsibilities at each job are clear. Just some small details:
    • Add a blank line between your contact info and the skills table. If you're short on space, you can achieve this by taking out the blank line inside the bottom of the table, right below "network" and "technology savvy."
    • Capitalize the P in Microsoft Project since it's a proper name of a software. Remove extra word space before Massive Open Online Course.
    • Play with the alignment of the heading "Professional Association/Membership." I know it's aligned with the previous headings, but since it's longer and doesn't list dates on the left, it seems too far to the right. Try centering it on the page, or if that doesn't look good maybe align it with the previous line.

    Thanks,
    Katie

    Hi Sabrina,

First off, this looks like an excellent start. You have a clear, easy-to-read layout and good information about your job responsibilities. In general I just want to see a bit more detail that shows off your accomplishments.

I recommend reducing your resume to one page. Sometimes late-career professionals may have need for two pages, but students and early-career professionals should stick to one page. Here are some suggestions to help condense your resume:
    • Your margins are wide enough that you could narrow them significantly, allowing more room for text on the width of the page.
    • You don't need to list high school.
    • Optionally, to save space, you could list languages under skills instead of making a separate section.
    • The bottom 3 seminars, without associated publications, probably aren't necessary in a separate section. You could list them as coursework under your education section, and omit the number of hours and the date, to save space.
    Other suggestions:
    • Center your heading on the page.
    • I recommend including a current address in your heading (doesn't have to be a full address, city and state/country is fine).
    • Is there any additional info about your education? What degree did you earn at each university?
    • Make your current experience at CFM into a bulleted list instead of one paragraph.
    • Find a way to rephrase "handled the making of." I don't really know what you did with those documents. Oversaw? Wrote? Developed or created? Use an active verb that highlights what YOU did.
    • Formatting: the E in Ecological blocks is too big
    • What were your responsibilities as a member of the research team from 2015-2018? Those are all cool project topics, and it doesn't hurt to list them if you have space, but more importantly an employer wants to know what you accomplished and what skills you developed.
    • I like your inclusion of papers, if you are looking for a job in which that is relevant. (It usually is - technical writing can be broadly applicable.) Where were they published? Can you provide a journal name or DOI link?
These adjustments will help dig a little deeper and show off your accomplishments and qualifications. Best of luck!

    Best,
    Katie

    Hi Daniel,

You have a great start here, with lots of good information clearly explaining what you have accomplished and learned. A few suggestions:

    • In professional summary: 'internship in civil engineering' rather than 'in Civil Engineer.' You can also make civil and structural engineering lowercase.
    • This is personal preference, but I would omit the little images that go along with each section, and then move the headings over to the left where the icons currently are. I think the icons distract and draw away from your accomplishments. If you do keep them, try and make sure the DJ in the professional summary icon is centered.
    • Again, personal preference, but I would make the size of the headings (except for your name at the top, that looks good) closer to the size of the body text. The headings are pretty large.
    • What year did you graduate high school?
    • Under Engineers Without Borders: Fix typo (programming has two m's) and include Python in the skills section as well - it might get lost in the body of the resume.
    • Include timeframes (starting and ending month and year) for your work experiences. If ongoing, you can list as "[starting month and year] - present".
    • Check text indentation on food service worker item. The other items have the second line of text aligned with the bulleted line. Also add a space to 'server, etc.'
    • Put a space on either side of the dash before the award description. E.g. Oscar Wegman Memorial Awards - Financial award.
You have a great start here, and I think these changes will make your resume look a lot smoother and highlight the information that employers want to know, and that you want to emphasize. Best of luck!

    Best,
    Katie

    Dominic,
Formatting and content is good. However I think this is a great example of tailoring the resume to the position you are applying for. Under work experience it is good to list work tasks you typically perform but it's even better if you give examples of how you have uniquely contributed to projects you have worked on. How was a project better off because you were part of it? Try to incorporate that into your work experience.

    Rowshon,
Overall I have very few comments on your resume. You list key experience in a clear manner. My biggest comment for you is to make it more "human". Your summary is an excellent place to do this. I would write your summary in first person in order to help with this. Example of making more "human" - "I am honored to have published over 15 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers and served as a reviewer in multiple ASCE journals." - you can see I barely changed anything but it helps the reviewer to connect with the applicant.
In addition I would also state your objective with this resume - "to obtain a position as a geotechnical engineer" (or something like that).

    Hi Damie,

This is a neat setup and use of one page! You have some great content on your resume.

A few suggestions on ways you can further improve your resume:

    • For the skills and core competencies section, you could add what version of the program i.e. AutoCAD 2020.
    • For professional affiliations, I would love to see how long you have been a part of these organizations like "American Society of Civil Engineers - Member (2013 – Present).
    • For your professional experience, I would love to see more on the quantitative side. For example, for "prepared detailed pipe-laying engineering design and technical bidding documents for CAPEX in-house projects in accordance with specified quality, cost, time frame, and acceptability" – how many projects were you balancing at once? Were you managing a team for these deliverables? Was it a whole network of pipe-laying engineering design? Just one section of pipe?
    • For further improving your experience bullet points, I recommend reading the following ASCE Article, specifically section 3 about "Telling, not showing": https://collaborate.asce.org/careerbydesign/blogs/stephanie-slocum1/2020/03/05/top-7-mistakes-civil-engineers-make-on-resumes
    • If this adds additional lines to your resume, you can include your time at that experience "June 2016 – December 2016" in the same line at your job title "Engineering Intern" and tab the date range to the right. If you are using Microsoft word, this is a YouTube Video on how to do this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWHmJMvuXt4&feature=emb_title

    Sincerely,

    Dani

    Hi Jamonte,

This is a neat setup and use of one page including the headers and bolding! You have some great content on your resume.

A few suggestions on ways you can further improve your resume:

    ·         I would recommend "CAREER TARGET: GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER – ENTRY LEVEL" to all be the same text size. Another way to modify this section is keep "Career Target" (or change to Objective) and then adding something like "looking for entry-level position in the geotechnical field".

    ·         For "Proficient in AutoCAD engineering software, including Microsoft Office Packages (Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel), you could add these as part of your core competencies. You could also add what version of the program i.e. AutoCAD 2020.

    ·         For the professional experience section, I would love to see this all-in bullet points. As one of your core competencies is excellent communication, I challenge you to include one bullet point for Save Mart Supermarkets showing how you have utilized this core competency. "Improved front-end customer service initiative which helped increase sales by 10%." is an excellent way already that you are showing your problem solving skills in a quantitative manner!

o   For further improving your experience bullet points, I recommend reading the following ASCE Article, specifically section 3 about "Telling, not showing":   https://collaborate.asce.org/careerbydesign/blogs/stephanie-slocum1/2020/03/05/top-7-mistakes-civil-engineers-make-on-resumes

    ·         For your University Course Project, I would also love to see this in bullet point form. Some questions I have reading this section: how many students did you work with? As the lead geotechnical engineer, did you lead a team in this role? With the 5 boring logs as your deliverable, how did this play into the design of the 3-story building? (connect the boring logs to the foundation recommendation made)

    Sincerely,

    Dani

    Hi Adam,

This is a neat setup! With the breadth of experience, I think in your case a two-page resume is acceptable. I absolutely love your objective statement and don't have too many comments.

A few suggestions on ways you can further improve your resume:

    ·         I would add "Present" or the end date to your Project Engineer experience

o   If this is present experience, I typically see those bullet points written in present tense

o   You also add what version of the program you used i.e. AutoCAD 2020.

    ·         For professional affiliations, I would love to see how long you have been a part of these organizations like "American Society of Civil Engineers - Member (2013 – Present).

    ·         For Key Project, can you add dates to them like "June 2018 – Present"? Also great use of quantitative data in this section!

    Sincerely,

    Dani
