    Hello All,

To date, I have been fortunate to have completed a few years at university and some internships. Going into my last year towards a degree in civil engineering with intermediate GIS experience and an introduction to water modeling software. Filling up spare time with a research project to answer the question 'Can ground water recharge rates be increased by adding bio mass to soil?', which is intended to be published in a Jupyter notebook. Nervous about finding a job that will nurture my development and pays well in the water resources field.

There is an attractive online graduate program in environmental and water resources but I'm hoping to get a full time position upon graduating with a BS.

Is it realistic to consider myself marketable in the water resources engineering field without a graduate degree?

    Thanks,

    Hi Carl,

I would say having a graduate degree is not a requirement for most entry-level jobs and many companies will offer financial support to pursue advanced degrees. If you feel your undergraduate experience has provided enough of a basis in area of Civil Engineering and you wish to start your career then go for it. If however you are wanting to pursue something that maybe your undergraduate degree did not cover for instance coastal engineering, then a graduate degree might be required for those type of positions. In my experience most of my training and modeling has been developed on a project by project basis while working and an advanced degree was not required.
