Consider the crowd. You probably have an idea of how other people attending the event will dress. You want to follow their lead if you don’t want to appear underdressed.

Time and location can guide you. The invitation will state where and when the event will take place. Different attire is appropriate if the event is held in the morning, afternoon or evening.
