February 9th Section Mtg:
ASCE GA 2024 Infrastructure Report Card Rollout

It's been 5 years since our last report card on Georgia Infrastructure. What grade did Georgia receive on the state Infrastructure Report Card in 2024? Come learn about ASCE Georgia Infrastructure Report Card and hear an overview and grade in 14 different categories.  

 

Additionally, we'll hear from Warren Shepard - Manager, Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency.  https://gema.georgia.gov.  

 

The Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency coordinates the state’s preparedness, response and recovery efforts to disasters. But did you know that this ranges from radiological preparedness to critical infrastructure to mapping & GIS? Many of the ASCE Report Card categories include critical infrastructure. Warren Shepard will speak about what the Agency does and how it is supporting Building Resilient Infrastructure & Communities.

Networking Event with UGA ASCE Student Section January 31st

Come meet the future civil engineers from UGA! This networking event will allow companies to interact with the ASCE UGA Student section on January 31st, 2024 evening. If your company is attending the UGA Career Fair (Jan 31st-Feb 1st), please consider joining this Networking event for more one-on-one time with the students.

Calling All Yellow Jackets!

We are looking for volunteers! Join us as we partner with Science ATL to bring STEAM events to curious community members of all ages! The Georgia Tech Science and Engineering Day is the kick-off event for the Atlanta Science Festival on Saturday, March 9 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (see volunteer hours below) and we need members of the Georgia Tech community (past and present!) to help attendees navigate campus and find all the amazing activities offered!

 

Who? Georgia Tech faculty, staff, students, and alumni are welcome to volunteer

 

What? Volunteers will assist guests with way-finding and general information

 

Where? Georgia Tech’s BioQuad

 

When? Saturday, March 9 from 9:00 a.mm – 2:30 p.m.

 

Why? Show your Yellow Jacket pride and help future engineers and scientists!
