Project Description: Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) is delivering VTA’s BART Silicon Valley Phase II Extension (BSVII) Project, a transformative project that unites and empowers the community it serves, fulfilling the vision of “Ringing the Bay” with high-quality, green rail transit. The project will extend Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) heavy rail service six miles from its current terminus at the Berryessa/North San José station through downtown San José to the City of Santa Clara and includes three underground stations, one at grade station, and a train maintenance and storage yard.

Speakers:

Sarah Wilson, PE, CCM, Construction Director, VTA BSVII

Sarah Wilson is Construction Director for the $12 billion Bart Silicon Valley Phase II Program at the VTA. She has 25 years of experience in all phases of underground engineering and construction management across the United States, Puerto Rico, and Vancouver, and her California projects include the SFMTA Central Subway, LA Metro's Purple Line, and California High-Speed Rail. She is a CMAA-certified construction manager and a registered professional civil engineer in California. She has served on a variety of boards and committees, and participated in the ASCE Legislative Fly-In for 2022 to serve as an educator and advocate for infrastructure improvements. In 2020, she led a pedestrian bridge build team in partnership with Bridges to Prosperity in Uganda.

Ronak Naik, Capital Project Coordinator, VTA BSVII

Ronak Naik is a transportation professional for the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) with over thirteen years of experience on public sector projects during the planning, design, and construction phases. He served as a Project Engineer on multiple construction contracts for the first phase of VTA’s BART Extension project to San Jose. Over the last nine years he has been working on VTA’s BART Silicon Valley Phase II Extension Project, including supporting the environmental clearance process, coordination with external agencies, and preparing technical studies and reports. In his current role, he supports program leadership in oversight of this megaproject through assisting in key strategic initiatives, leading cross interdepartmental coordination efforts, executive reporting, and serving as a technical liaison with VTA’s Board of Directors Office.

We are pleased to offer this seminar free of charge as part of our outreach to non-members interested in networking with fellow engineers. Please note that the online booking system displays a nominal $1.00 registration fee to help prevent automated bot disruptions—you may ignore this charge when registering. All attendees must register by June 8, 2025 due to building security requirements.

Following the seminar, there will be an optional dinner at Dinner House, located at 329 14th Street, Oakland, at 7:00 PM. This gathering is open to those interested in participating in the GGB Officer Meeting and provides an excellent opportunity to engage with the speaker and contribute your expertise to the development of the local organization.

Please be punctual, as the program will begin promptly. For those driving, ample public parking is available at the Pacific Renaissance Plaza Parking Garage. If you’re using public transit, the nearest BART station (12th St. Oakland) is just a three-minute walk away.
