Good catch. In earlier editions of ASCE 7 (16, 10, etc) the rule was that if the weight of the nonstructural component exceeded 25% of the combined weight of the structure and component, then explicit modeling of the component with the structure was required. ASCE 7-22 modified this requirement to 20%, however, while the change was made in the Provisions, it was missed in the Commentary. ASCE will be publishing an errata to modify the 25% in the commentary to 20%.

In ASCE 7-22, commentary section C13.1.6, the final paragraph mentions a specified weight limit for nonstructural components, and parenthetically gives it as 25% relative to the combined weight of the structure and component.
I am wondering if the 25% value should actually be 20% as given in section 13.1.1. Thoughts?
