I've been seeing so many photos out of the areas effected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton recently and was wondering what we as engineers in other areas of the country and world can do to help. I saw that the ASCE put out a list of places to donate here and I've recently got myself certified and registered as a post storm structural evaluator through the CalOES Safety Assessment Program but I don't know that I would be able to take time off for that if I were called. Have you all found any other ways to use your engineering skills to lend a hand?

My wife and I used to serve as Red Cross Disaster Assessment Volunteers. The role was to walk/drive through affected areas and note the types and degrees of structural damage. I understand the reporting is now done via a phone app that provides near-real-time information so that relief resources can be most efficiently directed.
