"When you encourage others, you in the process are encouraged because you are making a commitment and difference in that person's life.
Encouragement really does make a difference."
-Zig Ziglar
"Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see."
-Mark Twain
"Love seeks one thing only: the good of the one loved. It leaves all the other secondary effects to take care of themselves.
Love, therefore, is its own reward."
-Thomas Merton
"If you can dream it, then you can achieve it. You will get all you want in life
if you help enough other people get what they want." -Zig Ziglar
So, it turns out that love is a resource you never "Run out of" so long as you keep giving it all away!

Subject: What motivates you to volunteer?
As an ASCE member and a volunteer from my very 2nd year in college!
I would say that I volunteer for the spirit. I really enjoy the time being with a team or with the people I am volunteering for.
Also, it is always refreshing to create a network among who you meet every while and then and start even sharing events with volunteers who have the same interests.
Earlier this February, I volunteered as a presentation judge with DiscoverE / Future City competition for 6,7 and 8 graders and as you said, they are the students who keep you going.
A tip for all volunteers out there, always seek for sustainable activities that leave an impact on the short and on the long run. I was a project coordinator for planting trees campaign once and it is heart-whelming to see the results within two years plan! To plant a tree and to have it benefit others even if you are not the one caring for it.
It is always about learning people how to fish instead of giving them fishes!!

Subject: What motivates you to volunteer?
Volunteers are an integral part of ASCE! And even better, there are so many ways that you can volunteer, including but not limited to: volunteering for a STEM outreach or community service event with your local section, becoming a contributing author for your state's Infrastructure Report Card, or attending ASCE's Fly-in days to meet your local representative. My question to you all is "What motivates you to volunteer?"
As I am highly involved in K-12 outreach in the Philadelphia area, the answer is easy for me: the students. Whether it is hearing that one of my students got accepted to their top choice college, won a scholarship, or even simply tell me that they had never heard of Engineering before they met me, the students I impact through my outreach make my efforts entirely worth it.
Looking forward to hearing your reasons for why you volunteer!
