The dedication page for the 3rd edition, ASCE Manual 73 "Quality in the Constructed Project," 2012, states the following:
- "Accidents, design flaws, cost overruns, and other similar problems were occurring at a serious rate."
- "Losses measured in dollars without loss of life were also serious concerns that were addressed."
Engaging the perspective of owners, design professionals, and constructors some 32 years after the initial release and 18 years after the 3rd edition, will be of value to learn what you are doing, your colleagues, and others to assure the continual improvement of quality in the constructed project.
While you are free to select any portion of the 3rd edition, I suggest we first drill-down in Chapter 20, "Quality Assurance and Quality Control,"
pages 191 to 199.
Stay Healthy!
Cheers,
Bill
