  • 1.  U.S. Voluntary National Review on Progress on UN SDGs

    Probably not too soon to think about what a U.S. VNR would look like for 2022 and how the U.S. engineering and science community can contribute. The U.S. is one of the few UN member states that has not submitted a VNR but this will change.


    The U.S. has a data collection system in place that has been widely copied and was actually featured at an education event during the 2020 High Level Political Forum. 


    Take a look at engineering-related indicators and share your thoughts on their adequacy.

    Any ideas on how to have work by US firms that contributes to achieving UN Sustainable Development Goals included in the Voluntary National Review?
    OceanForesters is organizing Programmes proposed for the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. The programmes are "Science Enables Abundant Food (SEAFood) with Healthy Oceans". Plenty of both ocean science and sustainable development. Example programme attached.

    ASCE participates at the UN through the World Federation of Engineering Organizations and is co organizer of the Science and Technology MG with the International Science Council. 


    As you probably know, progress on Goal 14 Oceans will be reviewed in 2022.

    In my opinion, the various boxes or criteria are political and have nothing to do with engineering and science. If engineers applied science and mathematics to development all of these other criteria would fade away. They are political agendas not engineering criteria.
