When I was researching civil engineering companies to apply to during my senior year of college, I didn't fully understand the importance of looking into
ALL the benefits the company offered. All of the companies had health/dental/vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and tuition reimbursement benefits, which were the benefits I valued the most within a company. It wasn't until I advanced in the interview process with a company who's office was located in downtown Denver that I was exposed to some of the other benefits a company could offer. One of those benefits was a monthly paid public transit pass.
Through this benefit, the company actively encouraged its employees to use the systems it was advocating for and designing, which I GREATLY appreciated. I ended up joining a different company which offered a pre-tax account that can be used to pay public transportation/commuter costs.
Should civil engineering companies incentivize its employees to use public transportation? What would you like to see included in a public transportation benefit?
I'm excited to hear everyone's thoughts!
