I try to find subjects that are unknown to my day to day experience. Some items that help me choose. These are not in order of importance.
    1. Field visits over class room

    2.  Information is digitally available

    3.  Host/presenter contact after the event

    4.  Detailed/Accurate description of topic

    5. Hands on demonstration

    6.  Small number of participants

    Thanks for reading my thoughts

    Charles,

I had a recent experience related to small group participation due to confined space restrictions. We typically have 60 to 100 people add ending daytime events, however, the host said they would only allow 6 at a time due to confined space entry.  PPE was required.

After negotiation with the host we were able to have three field tours with a limit of 6 each first come first serve.

    1. SEI Chapter members
    2. Board Members
    3. Younger Members

    Hello Charles,

While I agree with many of your priorities, I'm not exactly sure what you're asking.  Are you looking for advice on where to find good continuing education?  If so, ASCE section events and extensive library of online webinars are a great starting point.  I also enjoy manufacturer-sponsored webinars which are often very hands-on, from Hilti or Nucor or similar.
