Prof. Haas - Please see the note from President L. Rafael Reif of MIT that he sent out yesterday to the MIT Community, including alumni (that's how I received it). His is a very powerful, well-written statement that I agree with wholeheartedly. His letter can be found via this web-link:

Letter to the community: Update regarding Executive Order, thoughts on moving forward |
To the members of the MIT community, First, an update: I was hoping to write to you today with some uplifting news. Yet, as I write, we continue to push hard to bring back to MIT those members of our community, including two undergraduates, who were barred from the US because of the January 27 Executive Order on immigration. |

Subject: Implications of Immigration Restrictions
Colleagues -
I believe it may be useful for us to share experiences and coping strategies in view of the restrictions imposed with respect to individuals from particular countries. Without getting political, I know I have a junior Iranian national as a faculty member (who I have advised not to travel internationally) and a number of students from Iran and perhaps other named countries.
Perhaps this thread would be useful to share any positive or negative experiences that we are facing.
Chuck
