Hi Jesse.
Tirza brought your mission to my attention.
Go to the "Professional & Career" section,
and then to Oanh's post "Switching Specialties."
My recent post offers a paper from within a rather large book of papers.
Pages 13 to 22 offer insight that ought to go to all our faculty.
Let me know if you would like me to send it to your non-asce email.
Stay Healthy!
Cheers,
Bill

Thanks Jesse for calling attention to these papers. The availability of these papers at no cost is great opportunity to gain exposure to new ideas and concepts, so a shout out to ASCE too. The paper, Reintroducing the Civil Systems Engineer: The Master Integrator, from the Journal of Infrastructure Systems, struck a chord with me. It speaks to the need and opportunity for civil engineers to step up their game as master integrators to address the compounding complexities that our world is facing. I'm curious what others think about this opportunity and as well as how engineers might develop the needed skills and experience to become master integrators.

I love that the engineering profession truly embraces the scholar practitioner model. Life long learning is crucial to the built and natural environment to which we are stewards. A benefit to all ASCE members includes access to a healthy number of free research papers each month.
The following is a list of free publications content for the month of December. (Note: you must be logged into ASCE to see the free papers.)
As an engineering manager, the list is missing my favorite ASCE journal - Management in Engineering. (Looking at you @Young Kwak - Maybe it was overlooked, but can we get a monthly free one at JME for the members, my friend? :) )
In the spirit of furthering our professional knowledge, I encourage you to peruse the Free articles with me each month as I post them. Find ones within your discipline that interest you and start a discussion about something you find interesting.
If you were the author, we'd love to hear why you choose the topic. These papers take a lot of time and energy far before they are ever written and we'd love to hear why this topic garnered your attention or at best your passion.
Also, feel free to comment on things you'd like to see more research on.
