My wife's great grandfather, Marshall Pope Robertson, was a member of ASCE and his death in 1917 was noted in a full page in the ASCE proceedings in 1918. The memorium offers a look into the organization and his career over 100 years ago. He was first elected as an associate member in 1902 and four years later he was elected to full membership. I think that the membership at that time was small enough to be this personal. I can only assume that all members received the same treatment.
