The CE history topic this week is Samuel Brent Whinery, [1845-1925]. Whinery was an ASCE director (3 years) and vice-president (1892-1894) of the Society. Whinery was listed as a prominent member in the Design, Construction, or Repair of the Michigan Lake Superior Power Company Hydroelectric Plant at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, 1895-1905 project.  In 1915 working in NYC, he patented an improvement on the street cleaning version of the "squeegee", check out this article

But the real news is that did you know that today is  "dia del ingeniero" or day of the engineer in Uraguay!

    Celebrate and enjoy it!

Each month on the first Thursday at noon (EDT), we have a zoom cast of Civil Engineering history available on Wikipedia. In the next meeting in November, we will be discussing Samuel Brent Whinery, Orlando Belina Wheeler,  among others. Join us! Be civil and Wiki!
