Hello everyone,I hope this message finds you and your families healthy and safe. We are in unprecedented times as a society, both professionally and globally. Many of us are under stay-at-home orders with exceptions for trips to the grocery store and to exercise. With these orders come cancellations of conferences, as you are likely aware, including the YMLS Alumni Summit (Mar 27-29), AEI Forum (April 1-3), and SEI Structures Congress (April 5-8), with others to come.
Some conferences have been able to shift their technical content online, so why not shift some of the other conference events online as well? The SEI Runners group formed at the 2012 Structures Congress in Chicago and have met each year since to run three to five miles before conference events. Even though we aren't able to run as a group this year, we would like to invite all ASCE members to participate in a run, jog, or walk, of any distance, during the dates that the SEI Runners group would have met, April 5-8. Feel free to participate at any time during the day on any or all of the days. Let's post data from Garmin Connect, Apple Watch, Strava, or any other forum in this thread. Route maps and selfies are welcome!
Please remember to follow local orders and restrictions and maintain social distancing of at least six feet from others. This should be a safe and healthy challenge and not one that puts anyone at risk. Stay safe, happy running/jogging/walking, and I'll see you online on April 5!
