In terms of being part of the work, I remember hearing of possible forms of concrete that either recycle the contents of previous routines, or contain chemicals that require less energy to create and include in the final design. From a more outward perspective, people into civil engineering could come to recognize and figure out how to do more about this on an individualist and systemic level.

While completing my BS in civil engineering, I took some Environmental Engineering classes as part of the curriculum. One of them started with getting me to realize that there is a real reason why government bills and organizations stay off of the engineer's spotlights; it remains rare for engineers to find any work in the political sphere and vice versa. So I subscribed to a group that both informs me of the battle against climate change at a governmental level and compels me to reach out to the politicians involved, making sure they understand who and what is at stake.
