Today is the day that Alois Negrelli died. Nikolaus Alois Maria Vinzenz Negrelli, Ritter von Moldelbe (also: Luigi Negrelli) (January 23, 1799 – October 1, 1858), was a Tyrolean civil engineer and railroad pioneer mostly active in parts of the Austrian Empire, Switzerland, Germany, and Italy.

It also turns out that Negrelli played a key part in a major infrastructure project of the 19th century, what was that?

Each month on the first Thursday at noon (EDT), we have a zoom cast of Civil engineering history available on Wikipedia. Join us! Be civil and Wiki!

    Thanks

Well, thanks to the people who participated in the zoom call on Thursday. We'll see you next month on the first Thursday at noon, eastern time.
BTW: Negrelli was part of the first engineering commission for the Suez Canal in the mid-1850s. His recommendation was for a canal without locks.

    Best to everyone!
