Bio

Dr. Georg Reichard is a Professor and Department Head of Building Construction and Associate Director of the Myers-Lawson School of Construction at Virginia Tech.

His research deals with numerical methods, simulation and data models, in particular in the area of building sciences. In his current research, he focuses on building performance, energy efficiency in buildings, retrofitting solutions, systems integration, integrated control strategies and smart building materials - using experimental and simulation modeling and assessment techniques to improve our buildings, their systems, and operational processes.

Dr. Reichard has many years of technical and educational experience in both industry and academia. His technical background covers broad areas of civil engineering and architectural design ranging from numerical analysis to experimental and simulation methods for sustainable design of enclosure systems. Dr. Reichard further has extensive experience as a consultant and expert witness in building science related issues, ranging from water and moisture damages in and around buildings to energy and performance assessments of building systems.
