Professional Experience

Concrete bridge design, steel building design, structural renovations and retrofits, risk analyses, structural failure assessments. Special interest in structural failures and post-disaster recovery evaluations.

Professional Associations

Past chair of SEI Young Professionals Committee, Member of SEI Chapter Resources Committee, ASCE 7-22 Wind Loads Subcommittee Vice Chair, SEI BOG Task Committee Member, Urban Search and Rescue Structures Specialist.

Other Interests

Travel (Europe, Asia, South America), distance sports (triathlons and marathons), and the bagpipes.

David J. Odeh, P.E., S.E., SECB, F.SEI, F.ASCE

Professional Experience

David has over 20 years of experience in the design and analysis of building structures, with particular emphasis in the development and application of digital design tools to structural engineering practice.  His firm has completed projects throughout the United States and gained international recognition for its innovative use of technology.  The firm’s unique BIM Immersion room was featured on the cover of Civil Engineering magazine in September 2017, and it is profiled in an ASCE Dream Big short film on Virtual Reality in Civil Engineering.

David has also served on the adjunct faculty of the Brown University School of Engineering in Providence for over 15 years, and teaches courses in structural analysis and design of buildings.  He has written numerous articles in engineering publications and has been an invited speaker at conferences, universities, and meetings around the United States. 

Professional Associations

David served as the President of the Structural Engineering Institute of ASCE in 2015-2016, and is currently serving on the ASCE Board of Direction from the Technical Region. He has served on numerous SEI committees, and currently serves on the ASCE Convention Advisory Committee.

Other Interests

Passions outside of work include running, classical music, art, architecture, reading (fiction and non-fiction), cooking, and traveling around the world with my wife Debra.
