I'm currently working with a consulting firm on buildings. I will be grateful for your assistance in getting websites to gain practical knowledge on buildings and also read and draft structural drawings.

    Thank you.

Hi Vincent Kwabena Lumor.  it is grateful to hear that you wish to expand your knowledge into building systems!

The newly installed ASCE Thrive Platform has been incredible. To answer your question I understand that your profile is associated with ASCE TDI Institute, which is really a great source of knowledge... But In your case, to get you more into Buildings, I also suggest that you might find some powerful content with ASCE SEI Institute or the ASCE AEI Institute as well, since buildings are subjected to structural or architectonical damage during extreme events...  Outside of that scope there is a join initiative by SEI-CASE-and-NCSEA called STRUCTURE Magazine that your can find for yourself resourceful into published topics of your interest. We structural engineers have full access to content (which is free), this is an alternative way to get some of the State-of-Art S.E., software and technology info, while following your profession by the core principles to perform safety infrastructures in the first place.

So... I am giving you some thoughts to achieve your objectives:

1st-  Try to look for some complementary information in the ASCE INTEGRATED BUILDINGS & STRUCTURES by accessing important discussions posted by some of our peers. Some people are giving their directions on how type books, or ideas while connecting to a topic or another, this one includes the concerns for structural concrete:

    à collaborate.asce.org/integratedstructures/discussion/concrete-structural-design

So If you want to go for Structural Design within Structural Concrete you'd better learning about some techniques to design structural members, I myself have posted some stuff in the IB&S Forum a better approach is using Strut-and-tie Analogies, which will demand you some insight into ACI 318 Building Code for Structural Concrete. You can look for Joint ASCE-ACI Publications at some level, and see how great artists in the past really create Maverick Buildings and Structures. Those extraordinary examples follow the concept for transparent design, it will be easier to advance if you accelerate perception by the nonlinear study of concrete and truss models. Later your can better understand steel systems and if you go to that direction, maybe would be nice to get some information in the AISC 360…

While EXPERIENCE during construction can be gained either by move yourself to Construction Site or works that interest you , and expand what you know by connecting in activities with Construction Institute of ASCE (CI Institute). This will need, as well dedication and lifelong learning in my view. Your might try change of experiences with another firms in your area/professionals and building codes or locally engineering systems.

I hope I helped you in some way, into your needs.

    Andre.
