Hi Arman, very interesting area you have selected!
Unfortunately, I can't help with your subject today Arman. It's not common to see earthquake design structures here in Brazil, due to almost none Hazard Seismic Activity. Our relationship with local partners in South America have been somewhat limited. Countries like Chile (that is very advanced in seismic technology) has a lot to offer but in contrast with our lack of integrative actions. Although I dedicate much time in learning activities to study some seismic mechanisms as well – I am aware of some valuable information on this impressive life threat area. Even though I never have designed a full structure to its effects, I adapted some special provisions while designing a recent Main Wind Force Resisting System (MWFRS). Improving the connections using high strength concrete in a variable depth beam was necessary to gain some additional shear & axial resistance by applications of structural concrete strut-and-tie with the aid of software C.A.S.T from University of Illinois. This suggested a creative interface between steel arch structure and the concrete structure, as well increasing the capacity for the steel base anchors. The Anchor design was performed using Anchor Designers by Simpson Strong & Tie and HILTi Profis, an extent knowledge of ACI 318 while searching for advanced papers.
I wish you good luck and I hope some expert colleagues might be able to help you in time.
Andre.
