    The use of stainless steel members for industrial use is common place. 

    AISC Design Guide 27 (DG27) addresses the use of stainless steel for gravity applications. However, the use of stainless steel material for lateral / seismic force resisting systems (SFRS) is outside the scope of DG27.

    AISC 341 Seismic Provision does not list stainless steel as an acceptable material for use with SFRS, under specification section A3.1

    Is there any resource available that addresses the use of structural stainless steel for lateral / seismic force resisting system? If available, please provide resource information / title.

    I suggest you also call AISC directly. Their staff may be able to provide direction to references that may help.

    You might also consider Eurocode as a reference.  Specifically EN 1998 covers seismic design but I'm not sure if they have much more on stainless.

    I think the key for "off label use" for structures in the US would be selecting SS materials that can provide the same ductility and toughness as provided by the materials listed in the AISC code and then gaining agreement with owners and building authorities. There are a number of stainless steels that will not provide the required ductility. 

    This may be easiest with non-building structures rather than buildings with occupants.

    Practically speaking, I would think it appropriate to pay particular attention to connection design so that demands for ductility are forced into the sections themselves and not the connections.

    I checked the Design Manual for Structural Stainless Steel, based on the Eurocode, unfortunately, I was not able to find that addresses my query about lateral resisting system. 

    ASCE 7 provision does allow the use of R=1 response modulus under Chapter 15 nonbuilding structures, which lets one use AISC 360 as a guide. AISC 360 does allow the use of structural stainless under unlisted material. However, by using this, there is a big penalty when working at a seismically active location.

    I was hoping if there are any other resources that can help avoid this penalty.
