My name is Ukpe Samuel, I'm a 400 level student of Wood and biomaterials engineering at the university of Ibadan,Nigeria. I've been curious lately, my love for Structural timber is just more than I could actually explain. Over here in Nigeria, we hardly use timber structures which serve as a disadvantage to me and also what I study, we just learn theory with no practical aspects due to our location. Also over here in Nigeria we aren't been treated like a Structural engineer, they see us like less important. I'm passionate about becoming a Structural timber engineer, what is your advise for me? And I'm also trying to pursue my studies further from masters to PhD level in abroad like USA,Canada,Germany and the likes, where i feel valued and encouragedaboutmy dreams. Feel free to comment, anything you say will go a long way for me. Thank you

I recommend researching where people are currently using timber and looking at graduate studies at universities in these regions.  Also, search different scholarships and programs where you can work as a research or teaching assistant to pay for your studies.

For example, the northwest coast of North America, the Scandinavian countries, etc.
