  • 1.  SEI Career Path Series

    SEI is launching a four-part series hosted by Glenn Bell discussing career paths from early-career onward. It's free for members. There are no PDHs available but members will be able to access the recording after the fact, as well as resource links specific to each session. Space is limited (capped at 300) and it will be hosted on Zoom – with a secure link sent the morning of the session to registered attendees.

    The first session is July 21 with Dr. Judith Mitrani-Reiser with NIST, so I hope you will join me in tuning in. I am super excited for this program and it will be beneficial especially for students and young professionals!

    Hi @Brittany Boyce - I would love to hear from Dr. Judith Mitrani-Reiser specifically about how both her M.S. and Ph.D. prepared her for her current role at NIST. As a follow-up, do most of her colleagues have their Ph.D.?

    Hi,

    These seem like a very good initiative to help engineers manoeuvre these tough times and also help them understand about multiple possible paths they can take in their career. I have registered for all parts.

    I would love to see the speaker discuss career options for mid level engineers, those in the 10-15 years experience bracket, how can they keep themselves from being obsolete in the current scenario and what complementary skills or career paths they can keep as an option. I know MBA and PMP are the traditional options, but what other options are possible. Even for someone with 10 years of experience, he/she still has good 25-30 years more to go. I understand that there cannot be any general answer for these questions and everyone must find his own path but examples from actual people who managed to make such changes or how they tackled similar questions by staying in the same career track would be of great help.
