  • 1.  Effect of the ground motion parameters on the short period strucutures

    Greetings,
    I am a bit curios about the earthquake motion parameters and its effect on the structural response. I did the time history analysis of short period structure under the 40 earthquake data set. I want to correlate the ground motion parameters with the structural response, but its not very clear. There is much research work concluding that the strong motion duration, earthquake frequency and PGA are the effective parameters but it varies with structure to structure. 
    My question is I have the response of the structure with the complete information of the ground motion parameters like Peak frequency contents,PGA, Arias intensity, single sided amplitude etc, how to correlate them in order to develop an equation which emphasizes on the structural response under these parameters? Thanks!

    You can create an equivalent matrix in the content and combine the parameters with MATLAB program then you can use an extraction equation to define the parameters in the ANSYS software and to calculate them.

    The classification and simplicity of the structure of the content in software ANSYS alone is not feasible and requires an interface with MATLAB.
