BIM is the tool that allows AEI professionals to do their jobs better and, ultimately, benefit the client and those in the business of delivering or contracting for AEC services.
I would like to make a distinction between AEI and AEC. Architectural Engineering Institute promotes "Integrated Building Solutions". As such, BIM as the tool is necessary. BIM should not be just a depository of data. BIM can facilitate integrative work. BIM also can have lasting benefits to the owners who utilize the facility management features of BIM.
Jumping into BIM can be costly at first. I can understand some hesitation. See if you can change their minds by promoting integration..
